Reconstruct Conversational Research — Portable Skill Draft

Capability and activation

Turn a long, malformed or AI-generated conversation into a source-locatable research map that preserves topic coverage, role distinctions, uncertainty, and the original record. Use when broken headings, repetition, role shifts, embedded assumptions, or orphaned citations make the conversation difficult to research safely.

The output owner is the reconstruction and claim map. The receiving question, consequence, authority, evidence needs, and disclosure boundary establish the research posture; company research and interview practice consume this map through their own output contracts.

Receiving inputs

• An authorized source file or transcript and its immutable locator.
• The receiving decision, intended reader, confidentiality boundary, and as-of date.
• Any known role description, source links, or explicit user corrections.

When a consequential input is absent, state the assumption and continue with the separable work. Personal experience, employer facts, and regulatory applicability receive distinct evidence.

Procedure

1. Preserve and sample

Keep the original source intact. Record filename, size, line or turn count, and a digest when a computer is available. Make one spread sample across beginning, middle, end, headings, and apparent transitions. Return a provisional topic map and identify what a full pass must resolve.

2. Read for coverage

Read every source range in bounded chunks. A coverage ledger records each range actually inspected and any inaccessible portion. Give every substantive topic a receiving destination or a visible hold reason. Sampling establishes orientation; a full-read claim requires full-range coverage.

3. Recover structure

Separate user requests, model responses, quoted documents, generated examples, and later corrections. Assign stable local locators such as line ranges or turn IDs. Reconstruct headings from the work being performed, while keeping the source's original ordering available for comparison.

A role transition receives an explicit marker: candidate role, interviewer role, audience, and decision authority. A duplicated passage becomes one reader-facing treatment with both source ranges retained in the ledger. A mislabeled heading receives a descriptive replacement in the new artifact; the source record stays intact.

A mistaken role assignment can reveal a legitimate audience or decision-owner perspective. Preserve the useful lens as an explicitly labeled hypothesis, then re-anchor duties, authority, and evidence expectations to the correct role. The correction and the recovered mechanism can both travel into the receiving work.

4. Extract claims and leads

Each decision-bearing assertion becomes a claim row:

A citation label without a resolvable source remains a lead. Plausible prose establishes what the conversation said; a factual claim receives its own evidence check.

5. Make layered passes

Use four complementary lenses: topic coverage; evidence and contradictions; receiving-role usefulness; language and disclosure. Each pass adds a decision-changing observation. Once the same state would be repeated, fold the current map and return to the receiving work.

For an uncertain assertion, search the strongest likely primary source and one fitting corroborating or disconfirming source when useful. Keep dates, source lineage, and exact affected scope visible. Multiple reproductions of the same release constitute one source family.

6. Handoff a usable reconstruction

Deliver a short orientation, a topic-to-destination map, a claim/correction ledger, and an access-gap list. Put detailed process in the ledger so the receiving guide reads as a guide. Mark which claims are ready for ordinary use, which travel only with attribution, and which remain research leads.

Recovery

A damaged region receives a locator and the smallest readable neighboring context. An unreachable citation receives its exact attempted address and barrier when available. The next-best public primary source can support a new claim; it remains distinct from the missing original. A repeated topic is folded by meaning while material differences retain their own rows.

A fictional conversation discusses a retail director's priorities, includes a warehouse-coordination requisition, and repeats an exercise under a second heading. The map keeps the audience lens as a hypothesis, duties as claims to check against the posting, and one exercise with two locators. A candidate supplies their own experience separately.

Completion and evaluation

Ready means the inspected source ranges are explicit; every substantive topic has a destination or hold; consequential role shifts and repetitions are resolved; factual use traces to checked evidence; and disclosure is fitted to the receiving surface. A structural check can inspect these objects. Natural-use evidence records whether they changed an actual receiving artifact. Independent transfer requires another receiver and a distinct receipt.

Language, authority, and disclosure

Authored guidance names the desired state, the evidence that makes it inspectable, and a calm next move. Meaningful safety, definitional, and evidence boundaries retain their precision. Exact source quotations retain their wording. Comments, identifiers, headings, table cells, and machine fields receive the same language pass as prose.

The register is warm, practical, adult-to-adult, and structurally aware. Agency fits the receiving person's authority, time, resources, and exposure. Role labels describe a starting perspective; an actual person's beliefs remain a question for that person.

Company and candidate specifics stay on authorized private working surfaces. Public-safe projections contain generalized methods, synthetic examples, and public-safe references. Publication, wider sharing, automatic discovery, and independent-agent testing each have their own human authorization.
