Company-agnostic research and interview preparation
Embedded Notion AI · exact model unspecified
Situated company research and role-bounded interview practice · generic method family
A company-agnostic instrument joining verified role research, hiring-decision-maker hypotheses, genuine candidate evidence, and inspectable rehearsal.
v0.1.0
Research payload candidate · under cultivation · v0.1.0. A self-contained, company-agnostic instrument for evidence-grounded interview preparation. A person can practice genuine reasoning, understand the work, and explore mutual fit while company and candidate specifics stay on an authorized private case surface.
Reader contract
Aim this payload at a role, a person, and an interview stage. Produce a practical library with sourced company context, a verified role card, a competence-to-evidence map, a prioritized question bank, inspectable exercises, authentic story worksheets, and candidate questions. Preparation serves a thoughtful conversation and a fit decision. It offers a method of practice rather than a prediction of selection or a promise of performance.
The interviewer's responsibilities help establish context. The candidate's requisition establishes the expected contribution. The person who makes or influences the hiring decision may hold priorities worth exploring; those priorities remain hypotheses until supported by a source or conversation.
Everything required to run the method appears below. Optional references provide further reading. Populate the Case Profile, preserve the source record, build ledgers, execute the ten demands, rehearse a small receiving slice, and apply the completion gate.
1 · Case Profile and consent
1.5 Case Profile · the case-specific swap point
Keep missing personal inputs visible. A useful first kit can use role-based synthetic scenarios while waiting for a résumé, genuine examples, or interview logistics. Receive only personal information the candidate chooses to share. A public reusable copy carries blank parameters and fully fictional examples; the populated case, candidate notes, and recruiter correspondence stay private.
2 · Ledgers and source standing
Maintain four compact ledgers with distinct owners:
Ledger | Required fields | What it establishes |
Source coverage | S-ID; title/author/publisher; attempted and resolved URL; publication/update/event/retrieval dates; role; lineage; read depth; barrier; claim use | The evidence actually inspected |
Claims and corrections | C-ID; source locator; received assertion; class; entity/role/jurisdiction/period; supporting and contrary S-IDs; standing; receiving use; next check | The basis and limits of factual preparation |
Competence and personal evidence | Duty; competence; genuine candidate example or open input; personal action; team action; artifact/result; question; learning need | The candidate evidence available for rehearsal |
Rehearsal and cultivation | Exercise/question; performed or designed state; participant consent; time; observed response/artifact; feedback; next revision | What practice actually occurred |
A company page establishes company-stated claims. A requisition establishes stated expectations. A sourced incident establishes a reported case. A candidate establishes their own experience. A synthetic exercise establishes a practice opportunity. Keep each claim attached to the evidence class that supports it.
Load sources before relying on their factual content. Preserve source-family lineage across aggregators and syndication. Search snippets remain leads. An inaccessible source receives its exact barrier, source locator, and a next-best route. Partial access receives a partial label. A source's publication date and the event date can differ.
3 · Method spine and authority
- Role first. Recover actual duties and required versus preferred qualifications, then calibrate depth and examples to that role. A senior interviewer's remit supplies context; executive authority stays with the executive.
- Source before polish. Treat an AI conversation, plausible market claim, or orphaned citation as a hypothesis until checked. A source correction updates the receiving answer and the correction ledger together.
- Genuine evidence. Personal experience remains candidate-supplied. Preserve honest distinctions between led, contributed, observed, learned, and would propose. Numbers keep their denominator, measurement period, and source.
- Situated agency. Include workload, staffing, connectivity, accessibility, travel, approval, equipment, and support. A good answer can name the conditions required for safe and effective work.
- Careful inference. Public role evidence supports a responsibility lens. A person's private beliefs, motives, and selection preferences remain open. Revise priority hypotheses through questions and actual conversation.
- Authorized practice. Synthetic fixtures and approved tools support rehearsal. Employer production systems and real customer records stay with their owners. Do not invent candidate achievements or present synthetic results as personal history; use a clearly labeled proposed approach or a genuine adjacent example.
- Bounded continuation. Choose the smallest useful practice slice, record the observation, and revise. Independent transfer, actual interview feedback, and hiring outcomes each receive their own evidence.
4 · Recover a conversation before researching it
Preserve the original file, name, size, stable locator, and a digest where available. Make one spread sample, then a full coverage pass in bounded ranges. Separate user turns, model responses, quoted job text, source claims, generated questions, and synthetic stories. Recover headings by meaning; preserve original ordering and line/turn locators in the ledger.
Resolve role transitions explicitly: candidate, interviewer, final or influential decision-maker, affected people, and professional approver. When a mistaken role assignment reveals a useful interviewer lens, retain that lens as a hypothesis and re-anchor duties to the correct candidate role. Fold duplicated passages into one reader-facing treatment with both source locators. Unresolved numbered citations stay unresolved rather than becoming invented references.
Follow with distinct evidence, role-usefulness, and language/disclosure passes. Every substantive topic receives a destination or a visible hold. Process detail belongs in the coordinator; the candidate guide reads as a usable guide.
5 · Decision-maker alignment mechanism
Use a short, revisable chain:
possible decision-owner priority → contribution within the actual role → genuine candidate evidence → validating question → revised preparation.
For each link, state whether it is source-supported, candidate-supplied, or a preparation hypothesis. Establish who makes, recommends, influences, and communicates the decision when that information is available. A CIO, team manager, panel, recruiter, or operational lead can play different parts. Unknown selection authority remains unknown.
Example question shape: “Which outcomes would make this role most useful to your team in the first few months, and what would you expect the person to own versus bring to another team?” Use the answer to revise examples, learning priorities, and fit questions. Alignment is mutual understanding of work and evidence, with room for the candidate's own priorities.
6 · Ten research and preparation demands
6.1 Establish the current role contract
Read the strongest available requisition. Capture title, entity, duties, required/preferred qualifications, reporting relationship if stated, location, work pattern, travel, support timing, compensation disclosure, and source age. Compare narrative text with aggregator metadata. Trace a syndicated posting toward the original while preserving the current access limit. Recruiter confirmation settles current vacancy and consequential logistics.
Return: role/source card; duty list; logistics questions; role-confusion corrections.
6.2 Understand the company and its customers
Build a concise company, ownership, offering, customer, geography, and dated-change map. Separate official positioning from independently evidenced outcomes. Research enough history to understand the present work. Older leadership, headcount, revenue, and reach claims keep their period and source standing.
Return: one-page company brief; event table; useful candidate questions; uncertain claims held out of factual answers.
6.3 Learn the industry and applicability boundaries
Explain the domain vocabulary a candidate needs to understand the work and ask clear questions. Trace official regulations and standards through proposal, adoption, effective date, transition, local application, activity class, and qualified owner. Sector forecasts and expert opinions retain their scope and dates. Turn applicability uncertainty into a precise question about jurisdiction, workflow, version, or responsibility.
Return: vocabulary and workflow primer; applicability matrix; technical literacy priorities; professional handoff boundaries.
6.4 Map the people the work serves
For each role population, record task, system/record, working conditions, evidence needed, and the point where a handoff succeeds. Include frontline staff, coordinators, specialist reviewers, managers, customers, and support teams where relevant. Use the map as a palette of possible perspectives and revise it against actual evidence.
Return: population map; handoff diagram; practical friction and resource questions; documented versus hypothetical responsibilities.
6.5 Translate decision-maker concerns into role-sized contributions
Identify possible business concerns from public strategy, job duties, operating changes, or an interviewer's stated remit. Apply the alignment chain in section 5. A strategic concern can lead to a small but consequential contribution: a clearer record, controlled change, reliable handoff, reusable explanation, or well-scoped escalation.
Return: priority–contribution–evidence–question matrix. Keep role authority, organizational support, and candidate fit visible in every row.
6.6 Build the competence-to-evidence map
For each important duty, name observable behavior, a genuine candidate example, available artifact/result, a scenario, a follow-up, and an open learning need. A candidate can use adjacent experience and explain the transfer boundary. When a result is qualitative, retain the observed qualitative result. A quantitative improvement receives its actual measurement basis.
Return: competence matrix; four to six candidate-selected story prompts; gaps converted into learning or fit questions.
6.7 Compose a prioritized question bank
Use questions that expose judgment, conditions, and evidence. Cover practical duties, technical boundaries, collaboration, prioritization, recovery, learning, and organizational context. For each question provide: competence tested; strong-answer ingredients; realistic authority/resources; a follow-up; and a useful evidence artifact. Label all generated questions as candidate practice formulations.
Create a short route for limited time and a deeper route for later preparation. The actual interviewer's questions remain unknown until the interview. A useful answer can be concise and still explain a decision, trade-off, check, and handoff.
Return: question bank; priority subset; scenario-answer scaffold; a transparent distinction between expected duties and generated practice prompts.
6.8 Design inspectable work samples
Select a small set of tasks close to the role's work. Each exercise specifies synthetic inputs, time box, tools/access, assumptions, outputs, decision rights, normal case, plausible fault, observable oracle, recovery, and facilitator notes. A table, narrated walkthrough, or sketch can provide an accessible alternative to live tool use. Use entry-level expectations where the job provides training.
Return: complete exercise packets and self-review guides. State execution: not_run until a person actually performs an exercise. A facilitator guide supplies a reasoning reference; employer assessment rules and validated scoring remain separate.
6.9 Prepare authentic stories, questions, and mutual fit
Use situation → task → personal action → result → evidence → learning. Invite the candidate to fill the fields from genuine history. Distinguish personal contribution and team support. Prepare questions about success, onboarding, workload, escalation cover, policy ownership, travel, schedule, tools, feedback, growth, and conditions for good work.
Offer a first-30/60/90-day learning hypothesis that is explicitly revisable with the team. The candidate's preferences and limits deserve the same clarity as the employer's expectations.
Return: personal-story worksheets; candidate question shortlist; fit checklist; revisable learning plan with support assumptions.
6.10 Rehearse, observe, and revise
Choose three high-value questions and one work sample that fit the person's preparation time. Record what was performed, the evidence actually seen, feedback, and one next change. Ask whether the explanation was role-calibrated, source-grounded, clear about authority, and genuine. A designed kit can be ready for use while actual candidate rehearsal remains open.
Return: rehearsal receipt; revised priority route; remaining personal inputs; specific next practice invitation. Keep actual interview feedback and outcome observations in a separate later receipt.
7 · Answer scaffolds and observation rubric
Behavioral answer
Name the situation and actual responsibility. Explain personal actions and who helped or approved. State the observed result at its measured scope. Offer the evidence and what was learned. When direct experience is absent, choose a genuine adjacent example, name the transfer, and describe what would be learned with the receiving team.
Scenario answer
Clarify impact and urgency → preserve people and records → inspect available evidence → choose a bounded action → verify behavior → communicate outcome, owner, and next check. The scenario can include an urgent containment step while broader recovery proceeds with the appropriate team.
Self-review rubric · practice aid
Use visible, partly visible, or next practice for: actual-role fit; evidence quality; technical reasoning; authority/handoff; resource awareness; recovery; communication; genuine personal scope; and candidate questions. Keep brief observations beside each label. This rubric organizes feedback; it is a local practice aid rather than a validated employment selection instrument.
OPM describes structured interviews around job-related competencies and consistent assessment, and work samples around tasks resembling the job, with attention to the competence expected on entry. These are useful methodological anchors; the receiving employer's selection process remains its own question.[1][2]
8 · Output, progressive disclosure, and visuals
Deliver:
- A start page with a 30-minute, two-hour, and deeper preparation route.
- A current role card, company brief, workflow/industry primer, and applicability table.
- The people map and decision-maker alignment matrix.
- A competence-to-evidence map, question bank, and fully specified synthetic exercises.
- Genuine-story worksheets, candidate questions, fit checks, and a revisable learning plan.
- Source/correction ledgers, access gaps, and a coordinator with Now / Next / Later.
- A compact material-use receipt for any cultivated methods, with structural review and performed practice distinguished.
Use a flowchart for a workflow, an unscaled timeline for dated events, a mindmap for reading routes, and a clickable card chain for decision-maker alignment. Pair every visual with a readable companion table. Use keyboard-operable controls, explicit labels for evidence and hypotheses, visible focus, responsive layout, and synthetic or authorized data. A browser-local selection is a reading aid; durable employer outcomes receive their own system evidence.
Keep process machinery in the ledger. Offer a short candidate route before deep reference detail. Fold repeated work into stable receiving pages and append only the material change to the coordination record.
9 · Worked micro-example · fictional
A retail cooperative seeks a warehouse coordination analyst. A director may care about reliable commitments across sites. That concern is a preparation hypothesis. The analyst's role-sized contribution could be a clear exception record and a documented handoff. A candidate can supply a genuine example of coordinating an incomplete request; the worksheet leaves actual results for that candidate to fill.
A validating question is: “Which handoff causes the most rework today, and what would this role own in improving it?” A synthetic practice task supplies three conflicting slot requests and asks for a prioritized action note, missing information, and a verification step. A good response explains capacity and approval constraints. The example remains fictional and carries no claim about a real employer or candidate.
10 · Language, disclosure, completion, and cultivation
Compose guidance as desired states with inspectable evidence and calm next moves. Lead with what a source or practice observation establishes, then route adjacent claims to their own evidence. Preserve meaningful safety, definitional, and uncertainty boundaries. Source quotations retain their wording. Review machine fields, tables, headings, questions, code/comments, and visual labels alongside prose.
Use warm, practical, adult-to-adult language. A person's preparation can improve while time, resources, support, or fit remain open. Public-safe versions carry generic methods, blank case parameters, synthetic examples, and safe references. Do not carry private employer/candidate names, case links, identifying metadata, or correspondence into public artifacts; use a separate authorized working instance for the real preparation.
The kit is ready for its declared scope when the role is clear, consequential factual claims have checked sources, all supplied topics have a destination or hold, generated material is labeled, exercises are executable from their inputs, personal history remains genuine, and the candidate can choose a manageable route. Publication and sharing are distinct from public-safe composition.
This draft codifies an initial local method application. A retrospective receiving review checks the undertaking against these sections; a fresh end-to-end execution of this exact payload remains open. Structural completeness, observed candidate rehearsal, independent cold-start transfer, interviewer feedback, and hiring outcomes remain separate evidence. Use one compact material-use receipt per actual receiving use. A gap becomes a concrete next input or check rather than an implied personal shortcoming.
Optional lineage and writing guide
Desired-state composition follows Semantic Attractor Design — Negation-Aware Instructions.[3]. Company-research coverage and claim discipline can use Situated Company Research — Self-Contained Payload (v0.1); this page supplies the complete interview method and works independently. Public research and selection-method sources inform a practice design while the candidate and employer retain their own decisions.
